VITILIGO
It is a condition that cause depigmentation of parts of skin. It occurs when melanocytes the cells responsible for skin pigmentation, die or are unable to function. That cause of vitiligo is unknown. But research suggests that it may be arise from autoimmune, genetic,stress or viral cause. It develop it before 20 years of age and the rest develop it before 40 years of age. It affects both sexes and all races equal, however it is more noticeable in people with dark skin.
Vitiligo seems to be somewhat more common in people with certain autoimmune diseases, including hyperthyroidisim (an overactive thyroid gland) adrenocortical insufficiency (the adrenal gland gland does not produce enough of hormone called corticosteroid), alopecia areata (patches of baldness) Vitiligo may also be hereditary, that is, it can run in families, children whose parents have the disorder are more likely to develop vitiligo.
Precipitation factors
Emotional crisis. Death in family loss of income job sudden shock. Stress
Gastro intestinal tract disorder like worms, jaundice amoebiasis etc.
Prolonged use of drugs antibiotics ovulating agents etc.
Lacal causes trauma, burns exposure to chemicals
Pathological defect in enzyme tyrosinase is held responsible for vitiligo. According to some Dermatologist it is a Trophoneuurosis and Melatonin, a substance secreted at nerve endings inhibits Tyrosinase thus interfering in pigment formation.
An Endocrinal disorder may be operative, Diabetes Pernicious, anaemia, Thyrotoxicosis, Myxodema, and Addison's diseases may be associated with vitiligo.
Case
A girl aged 17 was suffering from white discoloration of the skin on face since about six years. The lesion appeared on her rt upper lip and spread rt check
The lesions are well defined with lines and the borders with brown areas of demarcation. They affected areas were white, milky in color.
Complain headache wore sun exposure with tendency to catch cold easily. History. Vaccinated for all communicable diseases family history bronchial asthma, hypertension mother had utrine complaints
Complexion wheatish, thin, thirst normal, stool regular, urine normal sweat normal, sleep normal
Mental symptoms
Childhood of the patient was very troublesome as her father died of an early age when she was 10 .she was very close to her father emotionaly did not have any friends this prolonged grief made her very irritable anyone tried to sympathize with her she did not like it.

Pigments on rt check started sac Lac for 30 day after 30 days pigmentation on upper lip completed. Checks much better. Sadness and Nervousness diminished to much lesser degree. She was completely cured. The period of treatment varies according to the area and chronicity of the disease and individual response of the patient .
