Corns
You wince each time somebody steps on them, Corns, hard horny thickened patches usually situated about the toes or on the pressure points of the feet. You may even find them on hands of certain people such as manual labourers and housewives who have to do cooking, washing of utensils etc.Wherever they may be located, these tiny, seemingly innocent patches cause pain and succeed in making life miserable..
There are two types of corns, hard corn and soft corn.
Hard corns These have a hard, horny outer surface.
Soft cornes. In these, the out side layer of skin becomes soft and pulpy and is accompanied by marginal swelling. There may be a single or multiple formation of varying sizes. They are apt to be painful from pressure of the central corn on the sensitive papillae.
Causative factors.
Friction or pressure from tight or Ill fitting shoes or from the constant use of some hard implements, or pressure due to obesity.
Sports and corns
Many athletes and sportspersons from this problem which might even act as a major threat to their progress in sports. Cricketers, tennis football, hockey and volleyball players, gymnasts and even ballet dancers are all plagued by corns.
Treatment
In appearance a corn is so small and ordinary that most people think they can tackle it themselves. And how! Almost every trick under the sun has been tried, from burning it with Acid to cutting it off with a blade and even having it excited in a shoe shop. But excising a corn can lead to complications if proper aseptic care is not taken. Besides if, while excising, the deep corn Is not removed it may surface once again after sometime. Moreover, excising is best done by a surgeon. A few people even try corn caps. These give only temporary relief by removing the top portion of the corn and ignoring the inner part, which again develops into a big, thick corn. Fortunately or unfortunately, when all else fails most sufferers turn to a Homoeopath. It would be much simpler if they came to a Homoepathician in the initial stages of the problem rather than trying a varied assortment of potentially dangerous tricks and then turning up at the door of a Homoeopath. Correctly selected homoeopathic medicines give long term and permanent relief from this troublesome condition.
