Tiredness cannot be termed a disease but a reflection of Symptoms from within the body. There can be many reasons for it, some physical and others mental. Being tired has a killed no one, though it does prevent one from enjoying good health. Chronically tired people lack of the energy to do the things they enjoy doing. Hence they are irritable most of the time.
Tiredness is disturbing because often it cannot be explained. Sometimes, however, one knows the reasons. Chronic tiredness may have underlying chronic diseases like anaemia, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar threshold), thyriod gland disorder or diabetes, or even major illnesses like tuberculosis and malignancy. Once we know the cause it is much easier to tackle the problem.
Once we know there is no major causing the lethargy, then before starting any medicines following action should be taken,,,
Fitness diet.
Ten to twelve glasses of water should be consumed at different intervals, so also lots of vegetables, seasonal Fruits, grams, peanuts a few almonds, oats porridge in the morning with two glasses of skimmed milk. Eat small quantities at short intervals,. Remember don't fill your stomach completely because in order to digest the food the blood supply to the stomach increases and you may, as a result, feel drowsy and lethargic and want to sleep.
Don't skip meals
Skipping meals does not help reduce weight effectively. People who skip breasts are less agile and slow in their work. A well balanced, healthy breakfast produces stamina.
Avoid or minimise the intake of high fat food like chocolates, fried foods, sweets and too much of meat. The intake of coffee and tea should be controlled because they contain toxic waste products like urea, uric acid, cholesterol, and triglycerides, which bring down the sharpness of body and mind.
Exercise
This is potent weapon to combat tiredness. Walking, jogging, cycling and swimming are very effective aerobic exercises. They help in increasing your blood circulation which brings nutrients and oxygen to the muscles and other organs of the body and sweeps away fatigue causing waste products such as carbon dioxide and lactic acid. Exercise not only evens out blood sugar levels, it also strengthens the body's energy generating machinery and recharges the mental processes.
Physical tiredness
You wake up one morning with a nameless pain in the calf, the foot or any other part of the leg. It hurts more when you stand or touch it. You think you might have knocked it against some object, a table or another piece of furniture without knowing it, or you may have walked or worked much more than your normal practice. This may even be your daily morning complaints of feeling pain in some part of the body accompanied by general tiredness. Your body feels bruised and sore as if you have been beaten up and you just want to lie down and rest.
Arnica as a prophylactic.
If you know your next day's programme is going to be hectic with more physical activity than your normal routine, take Arnica 200, c potency five pills four times a day. Take it one day prior to the busy day, on the day itself and the following day. This will help in keeping your physical fatigue under check, and even if you feel tired it will be bearable.
Brain fag.
Hard work and study cause burning along the spine with a dull, throbbing headache. Such headache start from the base of the brain, going the spine. The slightest excitement or mental exertion in the legs and the back.
Picric acid, this has proved to be one of the best remedies for brain fag. Picric acid 200 C potency five pills four times a day, is the treatment.
Fear causes tiredness.
Fear causes tiredness, for example, in students the very thought of exams causes it. This fear brings on nervousness, trembling a feeling of dullnees, lethargy and drowsiness. The student just wants to lie down and complains of extreme sleepiness with a dull headache every time he wants to study.
Give him Gelsemium 200 C potency five pills four times a day, till the fear subsides.
So does low blood sugar.
Hypoglycemia means abnormally low blood sugar. For diagnostic purpose the blood sugar levels is supposed to be less than 40mg per cent, but this figure is arbitrary. You may, in fact, experience symptoms of hypoglycemia even when the blood sugar is somewhat higher. The symptoms are extreme tiredness, a low feeling, hunger, dull headache and a dry mouth. This can happen to a diabetic who takes insulin regularly, or if you have gone without food or drink for many hours. Certain drugs like Sulphas, oral anti diabetic agents and Aspirin can also cause these symptoms, so can large amount of alcohol.
Treatment.
Take small meals more frequently, specially of complex carbo hydrates like oats, brain, fruits, vegetables and proteins, drink lots of water. Avoid sugar directly or indirectly in sweets, chocolates etc. Saccharum officinale 30 c potency five pills four times a day, regularise the blood sugar.
Arnica after mental fatigue
