Syphilis

Syphilis is an infectious disease caused by the spirochete Treponema pallidum which is aqired either sexually or through blood transfusion ( aquired syphilis) or in utero an infected mother ((congenital syphilis)
Aquired syphilis is classified as early and late syphilis early syphilis includes as primary, secondary and early laten ((arbitrarily defined as more than one year post infectious)
Syphilis and late syphilis includes late latent (defined as more than one year post infections) and tertiary syphilis.
The spiral bacterium.T. Palladium penetrates skin or intact mucous membranes easily through direct contact and disseminates rapidly via the blood and lymph circulation.These bacteria cause vascular changes like those seen in endarteritis and periarteritis. The intial lesion of primary syphilis develops at the site of the transmission after an incubation period of about 10 days to 3 months, and then heals spontaneously within 3 to 8 weeks. Even before the appearance of the lesion, the organsims have disseminated all over the body.
Secondary syphilis may seperimose on a primary lesion or may occur 4_10 weeks after its appearance and this stage has a wide range of presentation, predominantly affecting the skin, mucous membranes and lymph nodes. Symptomaric secondary syphilis usually resolves even without treatment and the disease then enters a laten stage which may be divided into early and late latent syphilis.
Early latent encompasses the first 1_2 years of the disease and is marked by occasional relapse of active secondary lesions. During late latent syphilis the patient remains asymptomatic and generally noninfectious.
About one third of untreated patients will develop tertiary syphilis, which may develop after yeras to decades and manifests as gummatous cardiovascular or neurosyphilis. Tertiary result in approximately 20 percent of untreated patients
Males have higher incidence than females and the condition is especially common during the years of peak sexual activity.

A careful clinic history with the duration and detailed description of all symptoms and lesions should be looked into, in suspected cases. A complete history including information about the use of condoms and the number and symptomatology of all parents should also be looked into.
Homoeopathic treatment
I have personally very little experience as far as treatment of syphilis is concerned, since with the introduction of sex education, media publicity and use of condoms, the incidence of syphilis has drastically reduced in the last one decade. It is very important that we do not mix up treatment of a disease with syphilitic miasm with the treatment of actual syphilis.
From the few cases of syphilis that i have seen in my practice in my life, I have learnt that to treat it one has to have a good understanding of the syphilitic miasm, with a sound knowledge of its of its treatment. from the Organon, the medicine and the chronic diseases. This is a very basic that one has to know before he starts treatment of syphilis.
Some important remedies
Anacardium
Syphilitic patients who often suffer from an impaired memory, depression and irriatibility diminution of the sense of smell sight and hearing burning in glans penis during and after urination. Dribbling of the prostatic fluid during stool.
ARS alb
Phagedenic chancers usually a livid a hue in color with burning Margnis of the ulcers are hard and bleeds at least touch thin offinsive discharge feeling of weakness
Asafoetida
Tertiary syphilis especially after abuse of mercury affecting the bones discharging an ichorou, fetid thin pus and extremely sensitive to touch
Aurum met
Infantile and secondary syphilis, especially after the abuse of mercury and the potassium salts.there is putrid smell from mouth with caries of palate along with offinsive and ichorou discharge.Cerebral or meningeal tumors, sleeplessness due to Pain.
Aurum Mur
Chancer on the prepuce and scrotum, bubo in left groin bone Pain in both shinbones vaginitis and gonorrheal discharge with swelling of both groins.
Belladonna syphylitic buboes that are large and painful with an intense inflammation of the integuments.
Benzoic acid
Sphyilitic spots and marks warts around the anus offinsive urine.
Carbo animals
Constitutional or tertiary syphilis. Copery red blotches on the skin especially on the face. Buboes are usually on left side Nasal syphilis
Cinnabaris corners of the mouth chapped. Small fiery red ulcers on roof of mouth and on tip of the tounge.
Fluoricum acid
Ulseratioms in mouth and throat. The bones are prone are to caries the one that are affected the most are temporal and mastoid the Pain is characterized by burning and boring sensation the discharge from the caries is thin, acrid and corrosive.
Hepar sulph
Chancers extremely sensitive to touch with splinter like pain.Disposed to bleed easily. Bones specially nose, face and skull areas are inflamed and necrosed
Jacaranda caroba The chancer is surrounded by itching pimples prepuce and swollen. It is indicated in syphylitic Arthritis with morning stiffness and sorness of muscles
