Keloids and Hypertrophic scars
Keloids and hypertrophic scars are benign, firm, irregular and well demarcated lesions of fibrous tissue overgrowths, occuring to an excessive connective tissue response to an injury, which may be very trivial. The difference lies in the fact that a keloid extend beyond the margins of the original lesion or Injury, invading the surrounding normal skin, whereas a hypertrophic scar remains within the margins of the original defect, and tends to resolve with time.
They are known to usually occur following some kind of trauma, inflammatory skin lesion ( like acne) or at site of bites burns, ear piercing or operational scars but they can arise spontaneously also. There is no definite cause known as yet.
Keloids are known to occur especially after puberty upto the age of about 35 years they are rare in infant and the aged.
Keloids are especially seen in black Africans, Mongoloids the Chinese and Japanese. Women are more likely to be affected, with lesions occuring or getting worse during pregnancy.
The hypertrophic scars, there is an increase in the mast cells. The epidemis is normal or thinned by the underlying lesion. Biochemical studies confirm that collagen and proteoglycan synthesis is increased in keloids hypertrophic scars.
Immunohistochemical studies have shown that neuropeptide containing nerves are present in hypertrophic scars but not in non hypertrophic scars and these may contribute to the symptoms of discomfort and itching in such scars.
They can occur anywhere in the body but are usually seen on the limbs, earlobes, neck, shoulders, upper back, or chest. Spontaneous keloids usually develop on the presternal region or upper chest. Keloids are often multiple varying in size and number.
In both the condition the lesions become firm pink or red eleveted and thickned within 3/4 weeks of the stimulus. These may keep growing for months or years usually dumbbell shaped contour or an irregular lesion with claw like projections. The skin surface over the lesion is smooth shiny and thinned from pressure.
Diagnosis is easy with biopsy and history of trauma or an inflammatory skin lesion.
A few Carcinomatous lesions may be confused with keloids in the initial stages.
Treatment individuals who are susceptible to the formation of keloids should be wary of any suspicious wound or burn and get it Treated properly. Also unwanted surgery should be avoided in order to prevent the occurrence of scar formation.

Greatest case of all the time reported by Dr. Wesselhoeft who wrote of lippe.
I had Treated this man for more than 18 months. G.R.age 45 married ten years, for six years no discharge of semen during coitus, occasional nocturnal emissions, erections weak giving out during coitus.

Case of Dr. R.T . Cooper

A strumous gentleman about thirty years of age cane over from Ireland to consult me with regard to loss of flesh . He was over six feet in height ,but only ten stone. Hair reddish, thorax flat , pronounced venous zigzag, digestion v weak,poor appitet, a brownish rash across the epigastrium cannot digest vegetables.
The state of the liver led me to prescribe Chelidonium 1 five Drops in water night and morning.
Under this prescription with same diet he increased five pounds in weight in thirty two days. In six months he had reached ten stones twelve pound's in weight.and long after reported to me that he had remained in very good health indeed.
Besides being for some months under the influence of Chelidonium, he had intercurently also Badiaga 3 x and Psorinum 30 each during one month
His one of famous case.
George M aged 40 was suffering from cancer of the stomach and was operated on in the cancer hospital.The operation was abandoned on account of the numerous adhesions, and because it was impossible to remove all the diseased tissue.Cooper saw him first in July 22 nd 1898 and found him writhing him in agony on his bed, unable to keep anything long in his stomach, better by warm foods , worse by cold drinks.Pain worse at night. They began in stomach, spreading to hands and between shoulders as if an iron brick were being beneath the attachment of diaphragm extending to scrobiculus cordis. Tounge red , coated towards back, bowels confined, and sometimes diarrhea. Patient's father died of gastric ulcers aged 73 . On Saturday July 23 Rd St 6 pm Cooper gave, Orinthogalum one dose , Followed by great pains, he felt almost frantic at 3 am and again at 1 pm and. When the bowel acted . At 3 am he began taking Carbo veg 3x every 3 hrs. This was discontinued on July 26 as patient thought it increased the pains that now extended over the whole body.On 27 a frothy substance began to come up giving great relief. Cooper considered this as evidence that Ornith had touched the disease but had been restricted in its action by the Carbo veg. A second dose of Ornith was therefore sent and taken and taken on the evening of July 28 th . almost immediately after , the patient began bringing up a black jelly like substance with great relief to pain and general improvement. From this time the progress was steady. On August 29 the patient in his report said he was keeping fairly well. Dose repeated on September 9 th . Cooper saw him on September 30 th .This patient soon became perfectly well. He was alive well in July 1901 ( report by dr J H.Clarke in his Dictionary of Materia medica) .

Seborrheic dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis.
Dermatitis of the sebaceous areas. This is chronic and difficult to define exactly but has a distinctive morphology(red sharply marginated papulosquamous lesions covered with greasy scales) and typical distribution in areas with rich supply of sebaceous glands especially the scalp, face and upper trunk.
Dandruff which is a visible desquamation from the sclap surface, appears to be the precursor or mild form of seborrheic dermatitis. This may gradually progress into a red, irritated skin with marked increases in the scaling of the scalp and thus become a true seborrheic dermatitis.
The yeast Malassezia ovale which is normally present on the skin, is increased in the scales of seborreic dermatitis and is thus supposed to be the cause of it.
The condition is more commonly seen in males than in females it can occur in all ages even in infants below2 months of age. it is also seen in patients suffering from HIV infection. possibly due to the enhanced growth of yeasts secondary to immunosuppression.
It is also seen to occur secondarily in patients suffering from parkisonism. Generally shows features of both psoriasis and chronic dermatitis. most of the cells of the stratum corneum are parakeratotic.(distinguishes it from psoriasis). There is an increase in production of keratinocytes with marked epidermal proliferation and desquamation.
Malassezia ovale yeast with marked follicular involvement of the akin is more characteristic of seborrheric dermatitis in an immuno suppressed(AIDS) individual.
They commonly originate in hairy skin and involve the sclap,face, upper trunk and the flexures. In rare cases it can be generalized occuring all over the body. The lesions tend tobe dull or yellowish red in color and covered with greasy scales pruritus is minimal and chroicity of the lesions or recurrence is very common .
Dandruff is usually the earliest manifestation of seborrheic dermatitis on the sclap. Gradually there is perifollicular redness and scaling evident which spreads to form sharply marginated patches which eitgher remain discrete or tend to coalesee together. There can be loss2of hair occurring with this condition. There is redness and sticky scale and crust  formation behind the ears, which can spread to involve surrounding areas,can also be infection of the external ear canal along with this
The medial half of the eyebrows, eyelids glabella and nasolabial folds are especially affected.
Seborrheic dermatitis seen in males are petal shaped lesions on the front of the chest and in the interscapular region.
The intial lesions appeares as a small reddish brown follicular papule covered by greasy scale, these then spread and tend to coalesce to form a particular circular pattern.

Psoriasis is most often confused with seborrheic dermatitis especially in cases where there the lesions are present only on the scalp. The differentiating feature is that the psoriatic lesions are usually thicker and bright pink in color with a silvery scale. also psoriatic changes of the nails should be looked for and a family history of psoriasis should be checked for .
Lichen simplex can appear similar to seborrheic dermatitis but there be thickened plaques are often much more irritable than seen in seborrheic dermatitis.
Pityriasis rosea must be distinguished from the pityriasiform type of seborrheic dermatitis in which the lesions are more widely distributed and in which there is no herald patch.
Ringworm infection pityriasis versicolor and candidiasis should be ruled out in cases of lesions occurring only at the flexures by performing a microscope examination of the scrapings from the advancing margin.
Contact dermatitis needs to be ruled out with the help of a patch test.
Biopsy may be required to rule out pemphigus.

Cholesterol is oil based and do does not mix with the blood, which is water based . It is therefore carried around the body by lipoproteins.
The parcels of cholesterol are carried by two types of lipoproteins.

Cholesterol has main four functions, without which we can not live .

The build up can narrow the arteries and makes it harder for blood to flow through them . The build up can lead dangerous blood clots and inflammation that can cause heart attcks and strokes.

Pain in the neck in the rt side of of the neck and down the rt arm Picrate of iron 6 every six hrs. Nephritis (inflammation of kidneys with acute pain) Accordinofg to Dr.Jones Tr. Gelsemium is an ideal remedy for this pain. It reduces the albumin in the urine and has permanent soothing infulance in the nerves of entire urinary tract in a most satisfactory manner.
Pain after operation will not be relived unless Chloroform is antidotes by Phosphorus. Awaful eructations retching and vomiting due to Morphine effect after operation will stop if Chamomilla is given.

I know the indications of Drosera quite well it was on after starting to use it more that I could find more and more uses for it. The number of prescriptions and their percentage increase year by year. For example, Drosera and Tuberculinum work much better and quicker in those cases where I should have been giving Baryta carb, in under developed children. In bone troubles and in joints inflammation where I was trying Aur met, Phos etc. I found place for Drosera.
Suppose you find six remedies mentioned as well indicated for a condition, which do you choose? The chance of your picking up a rare remedy is indeed quite small. Take an example of boils. Most of us use Bell, Merc Sol, Hep Sul, Silicea. The Chance of our using Mysristica or Tarentula cub. And find a dramatic result, this stamps itself on our memory. We almost wait for another case to try it and so we find ourselves tempted to use it more and more. It does not disappoint. We can spot Tarentula where other homoeopaths would cleanly miss it. Mystrica also is similar remedy. I am telling this from my own experience.
No doubt all of you know of  that Digitalis has indication of jaundice and also that it is good remedy for enlargement of prostate gland, but if you have used it and found some brilliant effects do you make it your favorite. In the first 10 years of my practice I had used Digitalis only once for enlarged prostate and four times in jaundice, kindly note not only used but cured with Digitalis. In the next ten years, I could use it in five cases and about twenty cases respectively. In the last 10 years Digitalis has been used almost in every case and now it ranks equal to Cheldonium and China in Jaundice. Cocculus is another remedy, which became a great favorite by its usefulness. You know how many remedies are indicated in that very common but important disorder Leucorrhea?  In my practice there was a time when Pulsatilla, calc carb and Kreso used to lead all others in use. Now Cocculus too. Does it mean that it is curing cases which legitimately belong to one of the three or others, or that even if other indications are not there, I create the symptoms or imagine them in the patients? No, it means that many cases of Leucorrhea do have accompanying symptoms or concomitants which are definitely covered by Cocculus. We can elicit these only on enquiry. No wonders that every master has said that case taking is the most important and difficult for a homoeopath. Let me say that Pulsatilla, Calc carb, and Kreso are still used by me. It is question of percentage, as Cocculus ind gets more percentage of use, the others naturally drop their percentage.

Tooth decay due to wrong hard brushes along with a wrong style of brushing cause injury to the gums, regular use of such brushes starts brushing off the gums and enamel of the teeth. It is vescular eczema with chronic and recurrent lesions affecting especially the palms and soles. Here the oedema fluid accumulates to form visible vesicles or bullae. Because of the thick epidermis in these sites, the blisters tend to become larger than in other body areas before they burst.
This condition was also called dyshidrotic eczema due to its supposed ( though false) connection with sweat gland activity, since it is known to get worse in the hot weather.
Causes are hereditary predisposition to this disorder. Stress is also known to play a role in causing and being a result of this skin disorder.
Fully formed lesions show the changes of acute eczema modified the thick, overlying epidermis. The subsequent course is that of a subsiding eczema with hyperkeratosis and epidermal shedding.
Pompholyx is seen to specially affect adults before 40 years of age. But rarely in children below 10 years of age.
There is sudden onset of crops of clear deep seated, sago like, usually symmetrical vesicles, with intense itching. There is no redness of the part but a sensation of heat and prickling of palms,before attacks .The vesicles can coalesce and present as large bullae, especially on the feet. The eruptions tend to subside spontaneously within a few weeks, though scratching can make them worse. The symptoms are known to be worse during the summer months

Existing and incompatible

Exciting incompatible reactions.
One of the most common situations which may Come across the incompatibility of a drug is when we try to antidote the over reaction of a given remedy with it. Either in a proving or in treatment, if we we need to antidote a drug, we may find out very similar remedy and administer it. But sometimes, instead of easing the situation, it seems to increase the troubles and add new symptoms to the original ones.
For example Acetic acid and vinegar have been used successfully to antidote strong drugs like Aconite, Anaesthetics, Opium, Stramonium, and Tobacco. But if used against some other like Belladonna and Arnica, they increase the sufferings.
Hahnemann says, Cinchona bark, given for the debility produced  by Ledum is very injurious.(Ledum is an antidote to Cinchona).
I saw a very bad case of cholera a typical Veratrum alb case. It was promptly cured by one dose of Veratrum 200, next day just to remove the residual debility, I gave China 30 within half an hour the patient started purging again, China must have been an incompatible remedy to Veratrum. Luckily I gave Veratrum 200 one dose given again stopped the trouble. After a day Acid phos 6th acted as a good pickup to the patient.
When a prescription is made without the knowledge of the previous treatment, this happens when a patient goes from one HOMOEOPATH to another HOMOEOPATH, the new DR. Gets a bad name when his first prescription upset the patient terribly. Dr. Kent says it is often a hardship for a patient to fall into the hands of a second DR. It is very common thing for patients to come to me from the hand of good prescribes. I tell them to stay with their DR. Such changing is often deterrimental to the patient., unless he brings a full record, and this is specifically true in relation to a case that has been partially relieved, where the remedy has acted properly.
During Homoeopathic treatment, certain foods do not go well with the remedy, Mrs J. T. Kent, the untiring coworker of Dr. Kent has beautifully elaborated this what the patient shall eat and drink must be selected with due regard to the remedy he is taking and his own constitutional demands. When patient is under the influence of either Carbo Veg or Pulsaitilla you will not be surprised if the stomach becomes wonderfully disorderd after eating fat or greasy rich food, when your patient has been many days under Bryonia, Lyco, or petroleum, and he comes in and complains of an unusually disorderd stomach, you may often hit the nail on the head by saying, you must have eaten cabbage.. Coffee must never be used when your patients is taking China or Nux vom. It would be equally true if you are treating a nervous paralytic with Causticum, you would find your patients greatly disturbed by coffee and you would get no curative action from Causticum. It is often very important to warn patients including in cold and frozen foods after giving Ars, Lyco, Nux, Rhus tox or Pulsaitilla, it is well to warn to patients under the influence of Thuja to avoid oyster. Patient suddenly become disturbed from drinking milk if under the influence of Calc carb, Nit acid, or Sepia and be warn sure to patients under the influence of Ant crud, to avoid sour things, vinegar and sour wine. Be sure to tell mothers whose children are under the influence of Ignatia, or Agr nifty, to keep candy away from them or you will disorderd stomach and diarrhoea to contend with, which may interfere with the management of the deeper seated troubles. How wonderfully she has selected the correct phrase, when under the influence of, because after the cure, the patient can eat those very things with immunity. Only when under influence (action) of the remedy are the patients hypersensitive to those incompatible foods. Kent's Materia Medica is also full of such precious advice.

Intercurent remedies

There is another class of related drugs , which in addition to being needed after a certain remedy, specially allow for the repetition of the first one with much advantage. Though these may be Complementary, they perhaps require a separate healing.
A few examples
With regards to Drosera, while Hahnemann advises one single, Boenninghausen from his experience says By reason of its many alternate effects a repetition of Drosera without an Intercurrent, is seldom beneficial. (SULPHUR  and Veratrum are the most appropriate Intercurrent)
Hahnemann says of Nat mur that it can be advantageously repeated, after an intermediate remedy, if it continues to be homoeopathically indicated.
Quoting from Hale's life of Hahnemann Vol ll page 249 DR. Pierre Schmidt says Hahnemann speaks of Intercurrent remedies and says that in psoric cases it is sometimes useful and even necessary to interpolate a complementary remedy between two doses of the fundamental remedy.
The first question that comes up in our mind is how did the lists of complementries get prepared? This topic does not find a place in the Materia Medica Pura, and only stray examples are found in the. Materia Medica portion of Chronic Diseases.
Perhaps Boenninghausen had a great hand in starting this work, this being almost entirely a clinical problem, only the contribution to a common pool of observations by a number of good and careful observers could develop this branch of Materia Medica. Luckily for homoeopathy in the states DR. Constantine Hering was the central and outstanding figure, who while compiling the Guiding symptoms was in correspondence and Contact with almost all the homoeopaths in America, England Germany and other countries. Every new experience was reported and noted in the grand and studendous work. For the last fifty or sixty years that sort of combined work has been lacking and there is no one Institution or person to collect such material which from 1850 to 1890 homoeopathic journals were plentiful and voluminous. That is why we find no additions to these lists.
Are the remedies that are reported to follow well complementary or is that class reserved for only those remedies that help in some few instances only?  Secondly will a fixed or general complement  be such in all situations or conditions?

Due to exposure to excessive cold, there is intense vasoconstriction, and this is further reinforced by the passage of cold blood through the vasomotor center of the brain. Vasoconstriction provokes tissues anoxia, decreases muscular activity further diminishes the blood supply. In most cases there is ice crystals formation in the blood vessels, necrosis ensues.

It is recurrent localized erythema and swelling caused by exposure to cold. Blistering and ulceration may develop in sever cases.

These are marked with M.T. after them e.g.(Aconite. M.T.) to distinguish them from internal mother tinctures whichever are marked with e.g.(Aconite Q.) The external medicines are used locally, to aid the action of internal medicines. Usually the medicine which is used externally is also administereted internally thus for injuries Arnica M.T.is used externally and at the same time Arnica3x  and higher is given internally. Bryonia This medicine is indicated for backache with stiffness and pain.Here the symptoms are the opposite of those mentioned under Rhus tox Pain is relieved by the absolute rest , lying down and pressure.Even the slightest movement brings about pain
Bryonia in 200 potency will help.
Improper posture in the final weeks may also be responsible for numbness and tightening or crawling sensation in the hands and arms .The hand and arm complaints frequently are related to what is called the Lordotic posture, where the shoulders are slumped , the spine curved forward and the back bent forward.The tingling sensations usually vanish when the posture is corrected . Exercises are used to help change the Lordotic positioning of the spine and the shoulders.

Preventive. Attacks of epistaxis should avoid Violent exercise, avoid exposure to hot sun.
The child should be put in the bed with his head propped high or two to three pillows and his nasal wings should be pressed to the septum to stop the bleeding. The collar and belt should be loosened and the child should be asked to hold the hands as high above the head as possible. Cold applications to any part of the head constricts the bleeding vessels and helps to stop bleeding.
Aconite useful for Violent bleeding in plethoric patients as s result of over heating or due to rush of blood to the head. This remedy is specially useful when epistaxis is associated with headache and cough.
Ammonium car bleeding after washing face in cold water, in morning. May also after eating, after blowing the nose or during headache.
Arnica This is one of the most important remedy for epistaxis caused by blow, fall or any other external injuries
Bell head with flushed face, injected eyes and throbbing in temples.
Bryonia ,Carbo veg, China, Croc. Crot hor Ferr Ph, Ham, Ipec, Lach, Millef Phos Pulsatilla, Sulphur, Tub. Are remedies and should be given according to symptoms.

Epistaxis or nasal Haemmorrhages or nose bleed is characteristic by haemmorrhages from the Nose, usually due to rupture of small vessels overlying the anterior part of the cartilaginous nasal septum. It is very common feature of child hood and has a varied etiology ranging from traumatism to serious blood Dyscrasias. The most common site of nose bleeding is the anterior part of the nasal septum approximately 1cm above the nasal orifices. Bleeding is usually of sudden onset without any apparent cause and very often it ceases spontaneously though some times it may go on for a long time draining the patient of blood. Slowing down the pulse rate and causing Constitutional debility and fainting. The blood may be bright red or clotted, coagulated or dark, black or fluid or pale or stringy.
Causes. Numerous causes are assigned to epistaxis, but most frequent cause in children is nasal trauma including blow on the Nose, picking the nose, injuries to the nasal mucosa or removal of hard crusts, general congratulations caused by adenoids, foreign bodies, atherosclerosis, disease of the heart, kidneys, liver etc. Yet other causes of epistaxis may be Bleeding polypus. Whooping cough acute infection fever Influenza Malaria and high blood pressure.
Constitutional causes .The children of psoric and Tubercular constitution suffer from nasal Haemmorrhages more frequently of other than constitution. In Tubercular children nasal Haemmorrhages are profuse, bright red, difficult to arrest and are ameliorated. By cold applications. The Children will have a Haemmorrhages from the Nose on the slightest provocation, that is blowing the nos, a slight blow, or washing the face etc. In this constitution, epistaxis often proves to be beneficial as it ameliorates headache, vertigo and congestion of the brain and head.

Inginual hernia

Oral cancer also known as mouth cancer
Any cancerous tissue growth located in the oral cavity,it may rise as a primary lesions originating in any of the tissues in the mouth, by metastasis from a distant site of origin or by extension from a neighbouring anatomic structure such as nasal cavity.
Oral cancer may originated in any of the mouth and may be of varied histologic types teratoma from the tonslar or other lymphoid tissue or melanoma from the pigments producing cells of the oral mucosa.
There are several types of oral cancers
Mouth and lips tounge,it may also occurs on the floors of the mouth, cheeks,lining gingiva ( gums) lips or palate( roof of the mouth) most oral cancers look very similar under the microscope and are called Squamous cell carcinoma but less commonly aller types of oral cancers.

Cancer of the tounge
It is important that the Physician should be able to diagnose Cancer of the tounge from Syphllis.The whole tounge may become very much enlarged. In taking the tounge between your thumb and finger it will feel hard and indurated, bleeds easily and has sharp lancinating pain that extends to the throat and base of the skull.
When there is well marked thickening of the tounge, I have given liquid Phytolacca in teaspoonful doses after each meal and added five grains iodide potassium.
Tincture Semervivum 7drops daily once .

Cancer of mouth and Throat.
In cancer of the mouth, the growth Will usually be found in the inside of the cheek or on the roof of the mouth.
In cancer of lips the disease may extend into the mouth From the lips.Cancer upon the cheek will sometimes destroy the tissue and make an opening through the skin into the mouth the disease then spreads over the inside of the mouth upon that side of face.

Color .It is not difficult to diagnose this condition..I have met with a good many cases of this form of cancer, but many instances I have been consulted too late to render the patients any assistance.
Unfortunately our homoeopathic medical colleges do not teach the students how to diagnose the different forms of cancer when they see them .
